Mucha Soir, also known as Evening Contemplation, is a Belgian jacquard woven wall tapestry. In this tapestry evening time is personified by the imagery of a woman in an elegant evening gown resting by the woods. The artwork comes from pioneering Czechoslovakian artist, Alphonse Mucha; part of his Hours of the Day series from 1899. The scene is surrounded by delicate leaves and bordered with flowers. The softness and elegance of Mucha's works is especially seen in this piece with the delicate use of colors to convey the feeling of an evening approaching. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads often using pale pastel colors. The Mucha Style became known as Art Nouveau French for new art and was often imitated. A fine art tapestry that complements the decor of any room to which it is displayed.
